About Tuanku Abdul Rahman Tuanku Muhammad Shah

-1st Yang di-Pertuan Agong (roughly equivalent to King) of the Federation of Malaya (Sept 13th, 1957)

-8th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Seri Menanti (reign: August 3rd 1933 - April 1st 1960)

-2nd Yang di-Pertuan Besar of modern Negeri Sembilan.

-His face has adorned all Ringgit Malaysia banknotes since its introduction in 1967 as well as several commemorative coins and stamps. His headdress, but not his face, is depicted on the reverse of the electronic Malaysian identity cards (MyKad).

-During the separation of his parents, Tuanku Abdul Rahman went to live in Serting with his mother away from the palace and lived as ordinary village folk did and led a life of relative poverty. He walked bare-footed to school with shoes flung over his shoulders to save them from wear and tear. He did not stretch the family purse by having breakfast at home, instead he would pluck his daily breakfast from the abundant jambu trees on the road to school. This thriftiness he would carry into his later years.

-He was never groomed to be the Sultan by the palace. He became next in line to the throne when his elder brother died in a car accident.
